About Us

Chase Middle School, located at 2250 NE State Street, opened in 1980 on the former football field of Cyrus K. Holliday Junior High School. The school was named in honor of Harold T. Chase, longtime editor of The Topeka Capital, who was credited with writing more editorials than any other newspaper editor during his career.

For the 1993 school year, six classrooms were added to the east end of the building to support the district's transition from the junior high model to the middle school concept.

In 2013, Chase Middle School and State Street Elementary were joined to form a K–8 co-campus, creating one of the district's signature schools: Signature Performing Arts.
