Ms. Spalding is excited and proud to begin her 27th year with Topeka Public Schools joining the Chase Middle School family. She began her career with TPS teaching students at Potwin and Meadows Elementary Schools. She then led math instructional teams as a district math consulting teacher working with students and teachers in the area of mathematics. This led to beginning her career in administration where she has served as assistant principal at Eisenhower Middle School and Topeka West High School. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Emporia State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University. She is looking forward to working with the outstanding staff at Chase Middle School.

Outside of being a passionate educator she is a mother to four children who all attended Topeka Public Schools. Some things she enjoys are staying active whether jogging, going to the gym or walking her dog. She also enjoys reading. Ms. Spalding looks forward to meeting and getting to know each student, family, as well as community members. It’s a great day to be a Chase Cougar.

Mr. Gay, Assistant Principal has been in education since 1992 and has been a part of the Topeka Public Schools community since 1994. Mr. Gay has worked at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels. He has been a part of the Chase Community since 1999. Mr. Gay taught PE, Health, Math, and computers before becoming an administrator. Mr. Gay attended Washburn University, the University of Hawaii, and Emporia State University. Some of his responsibilities with students are monitoring grades, student behaviors, and taking care of facilities.
