Extra Curricular Activities

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

At Chase Middle School we have students from many different backgrounds and cultures. We hold sixth grade activities separate from seventh and eighth grade activities, as set forth by district requirements. Sixth grade social activities may include skating parties and dances. At school parties, the students enjoy music that a professional disc jockey provides. Our concession stand is open during this time for students. Family nights are also another way for the Chase community to come together. Every year a Reading/Math night is made possible by the staff as well as a Family Fitness Night.

THE ARTS

Drama/musical productions are presented at Chase each year. These provide an opportunity for sixth, seventh and eighth graders to become involved in an extra-curricular activity. Production involves about six weeks of rehearsals and much support from the Chase staff, parents/guardians/care providers, and our Signature School Grant. Students are given the opportunity several times a year to participate in art contest throughout the city.

SPORTS

Extra-curricular sport activities at Chase Middle School are for seventh and eighth graders only and include basketball, tennis, football, volleyball, cross country, and track. The athletic program is strong in participation and any eligible student may be on a team. The sport activities take place after school. All students are welcome to watch and support their team. All outdoor events are free. The eighth grade students have a "play night" which is held in the evening to allow parents/guardians an opportunity to watch their son/daughter participate in our sports program during the evening hours.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Student Council members are volunteers who feel a passion about Chase and what our school represents. Mr. Hershberger is the staff member organizing the Student Council. If your child is interested in participating, please contact him.

SPELLING BEE AND MLK COMPETITION

Each year all students are given the opportunity to participate in the city Spelling Bee and MLK competitions. Practices for the spelling bee are held on a weekly basis after school six weeks prior to the county spelling competition. The MLK competition is held yearly, information is distributed to students by their teachers.
